Finding a Date Can Be Hard

We live busy lives, don’t we? We get up (after not getting quite as much sleep as we wish we could get), we get dressed, grab whatever kind of grub or coffee we can scrounge up (or afford at a place on the way), and then most of our time is spent at work. And by the time we get done working, all we want to do is relax. So we head on down to a bar, or a pizza place, or whatever — and we hang out with the friends we already have. It does tend to make it difficult to “find someone.”And what if you like to go to the club? Do you really think you are going to find someone who wants more than a little flirting, maybe a few hours of heavy breathing, and maybe (just maybe) a few repeat performances? As fun as that can be, it is anything but the basis on which to start a real relationship. So where do you go, if you want to find someone who is into the kinds of things that you are, and has similar values to the ones that you have? The classic, canned advice of “just do the stuff, and let The One find you” is great, except that if everybody is waiting around, who’s doing the approaching?

And a lot of folks have apprehensions about doing cold approaches on strangers. So that might just be out, too, unless you’re of the gutsy variety. So maybe you should consider joining a dating service, and letting it help you to get matched up with someone. After all, dating services let you meet up with someone who is most likely sober, definitely has something in common with you, and is most likely looking for the same sorts of things that you are.
